workshop: Babywearing for Doulas

This workshop is for doulas (birth or postpartum) as well as other birth professionals or individuals working with new families and newborn babies.

In this workshop you will learn how to use a variety of carriers with newborns and how to help caregivers use the carriers they own safely and comfortably.

You will learn how to use:
- stretchy wraps, such as moby;
- woven wraps;
- ring slings;
- mei tai's;
- soft structured carriers, such as ergo;
- pouches;
- narrow based carriers, such as baby bjorn;
- hybrid carriers, such as k'tan.

We will also talk about traditional carriers, such as rebozo and kanga.

You will learn how to recognize an unsafe carrier or unsafe position.

You will learn babywearing safety guidelines.

You will learn how to breastfeed in each carrier.

During the workshop you will have a chance to practice using each carrier with a weighted demo doll.

The workshop will start at 10am and end at 5 pm, we will have a lunch break from 1 to 2pm, you can bring your lunch or order.

Dress comfortably, bring a pen, notebook, water. You may bring carrier(s) that you plan to use.

In case you're called to a birth and can't attend, your fee can be used towards next workshop.


You will be awarded 6 CEU from DONA international.
